Back in the day storytelling was at the heart of community life in Ireland. Now, two well-known pipers, ‘Jaff’ Mac Séafraidh and Cormac ‘Buzz’ Ó Brian will bring this ancient art form before a new audience throughout the country and further afield. Not only are they both proficient storytellers but they are also excellent Uilleann pipe players.
The two came together to bring traditional storytelling to the public and to share their love for their favourite instrument, the Uilleann pipes. The show is a collection of stories, each of which has a unique feel that shows the stories passionately through great music. Cormac said:
‘There are a few traditional storytellers left in the country and plenty of good pipers, but as far as we know, no one is putting together a bagpipe and traditional stories from the old days like his counterpart James Ennis and other musicians did. We have always learned the stories of music but it was when we were often asked to do shows that we decided to give some structure to the performances in order to make an exciting performance of exciting reels, tunes and melodies with fairy tales, tragedies, incredible adventures and old traditions.’
