In December 2022 and 2023 I began researching and developing an ongoing project on the south coast of Morocco, documenting the social, ecological and architectural structures of the Berber / Amazigh Haha tribe in the region of Ait Tamer. This collective community live in the mountain villages and travel daily down to the shoreline where they work and survive by harvesting mussels during low tide.
I am aware of my intervention as a European, a western stereotype visiting upon a real-world collective. It is only with empathy that I attempt to draw my own comprehension.
