We welcome the coming of the season of Bealtaine and the heralding of the fairy folk with plenty of virtual events and entertainment. We celebrate the indigenous festival and welcome the season’s growth and fertility.
We have a varied and creative programme including ‘Submerged in Echoes’ by Emma Berkery, our artist in residence’s new exhibition, music sessions, reading circles, Bealtaine concert with a host of fantastic musicians, thematic activity resources for young people along with youth art tutorials and more.
2021 is a year of celebration for the Cultúrlann family and community as we celebrate 30 years since our inception. The celebration will be launched officially, along with a special photographic exhibition, ‘30 Year a Growing’, as well as the beginning of our new lecture series, The Shipboy McAdam Lecture Series. No matter your age or linguistic abilities, there is something in this programme for you!
Edel Ní Chorráin, Deputy Chief Executive of Foras na Gaeilge stated:
Cultúrlann Mc Adam Ó Fiaich first opened its doors in 1991 and we see now, 30 years later, the fruits of that decision throughout the area and the city. The celebratory events will provide us with the opportunity to remember those initial brave steps as we look to the future.
Director of the Cultúrlann, Gráinne Ní Ghilín, further stated:
Bealtaine is the season when nature reaches her zenith, and this is reflected in the entertainment and educational events our artists, performers, speakers and teachers are providing for us this summer. We look forward to seeing you at our virtual events online and to welcoming you back into An Chultúrlann before too long.
Digital copies of the programme are available and downloadable here.
